Tomorrow night we face an Everton team who have gotten off to one of, if not their best start to a season in recent years, but with one win in their last 7 games, their form has dipped. The recent drop in form doesn't mean we can take tomorrow's game and less serious. Everton are a force to be reckoned with at home and still remain unbeaten at Goodison Park in the league this year.
Team News
- Walcott returns after his minor injury that kept him out of the Villa game.
- Thomas Vermaelen and Jack Wilshere, according to the boss, are "alright"
- Tomas Rosicky has returned to full training but is unlikely to feature in the game.
- Abou Diaby, 3 to 4 weeks.
- The rest of the team that featured at Villa have been past fit to play.

Arsenal have been in steady enough form of late, stringing together an unbeaten run of 5 games since the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the beginning of the month and have successfully managed to get through to the Last-16 of the Uefa Champions League. Althought the game against Villa remained scoreless the Gunners have averaged 3 goals a game in their last 7 outings, scoring 21 in total.
Predicted Lineup: Szczesney, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Sagna, Arteta, Cazorla, Wilshere, Chamberlain, Podolski, Giroud.
Everton
Last Outing: Everton 1-1 Norwich
Recent Form: DLWDD
Everton remain unbeaten at home this season after the weekend's result and they've notched up a total of 12 points from a possible 18 on home soil so far this season. The home side will be boosted by the return of fan favourite Marouane Fellaini. The Everton talisman will be certainly looking to cause a sometimes shaky Gunners defence a few problems with his strength and aerial ability.
Jay's Prediction
I think we'll edge this one. Everton will definitly cause us problems and their attacking ability can't be underestimated but we've been solid at the back (yeah, we actually have) and i think the form or Per will shine throughout the defence once again. Arteta needs to continue his adopted role as a holding midfielder and cannot let the occaison take over his emotions, his head needs to be in the game.
Giroud could be a big factor in this game. Everton arn't exactly the kind of team who will sit back for 90 minutes but if they do, the long ball up to the big Frenchman will have to be played. He's shown his class over recent weeks and can be a massive game changer as we now know.
Finally, the midfield needs to be at it. We need to get Cazorla and Jack on the ball as much as possible. We need to control the game. Everton's midfield are tireless and with the likely return of Darren Gibson (he's not quality but he works hard) Everton will be boosted.
Predicted Scorline: 1-2
Predicted Scorers: Jelavic, Podolski, Cazorla.

Back and Ready to Post!
And We're Back!
Right, I began this blog at the start of the season, posted about 5 times I think, and fell out of love with it right away. I'v been thinking recently and i really believe this could be a fairly successful blog. I want to use it to voice my opinions and concerns about Arsenal to people who care about the club and also want to have a bit of a moan about the goings on!
Basically we're gonna have pre and post match reactions and analysis, squad news, general discussions and whatever else you guys wanna see on here.
I want this blog to be as interactive to its readers as possible to the people reading it. I'll be setting up a Twitter where you can tweet out your opinions and each new post will be Tweeted out to you guys aswel.
I'm not trying to be the next Arseblog, the guys over there do a great job. I'm just looking for a place where I can voice my opinions and hopefully hear back from you guys aswel.

RVP leaves for United
Arsenal confirm Van Persie Sale
"Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.
Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move.

Gunners seal Ponferradina partnership
According to AS our young Brazilian attacker Wellington Silva has sealed a deal to go on loan to Spanish Segunda Division side Ponferradina for the upcoming season. Silva has already been on Loan to Levante and Alcoyano in previous seasons.
AS are also reporting that the two clubs have formed an agreement to establish an official partnership, allowing Arsenal to send players on loan to Ponferradina, with no obligation for them to play, and also allows Arsenal 'first dibs' on any upcoming youth prospects that may filter through to the Ponferradina squad.
Hopefully the next Cesc Fabregas will walk through the doors of the Ponferradina youth campus, but i highly doubt that!

Post Cologne Reaction
As you all know we played our final pre-season friendly vs Cologne the other day, comfortably winning 4-0. There were many positives, notably the performances of the three new boys, but also a few negatives including Vito Mannone's dodgy 'keeping.
The perfomance, as a whole was quite pleasing, we played as we should play against a team in the German second division, keeping the ball well but also providing some attacking threat and relative defensive stability.
The team lined up as such: Mannone, Gibbs, Yennaris, Mertesacker, Coquelin, Chamberlain, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud.
As previously stated, what impressed me the most about the game were the performances of the three new boys, Cazorla in particular. Cazorla looked as if he had been playing in this team for years. He was constantly looking for space to receive the ball, and when the ball was passed with him he was extremely comfortable and made finding a teammate look extremely easy. He 'Bossed' the midfield for the first half in which he played and surely by this showing earned himself a place in the starting against Sunderland.
Podolski, needless to say, did what he was bought to do and scored goals. 2, in fact. Podo' looked very comfortable also, linking up with Giroud on more than one occasion, showing us bursts of his pace and demonstrating good strength when on the ball.
Giroud was also impressive. Already he looks a more useful player than Chamakh could ever be. He's stronger, he puts himself about more and looks 100x more comfortable with the ball at his feet. As i said he linked up with Podo' more than once, and also let off a few shots, from inside and outside of the box.
Arsene made 10 changes at the half time break, bringing on the likes of Gervinho (who managed to grab a goal), Song, Koscielny and Arshavin.
Koscielny was as solid and pacy as ever, Arshavin didn't look arsed and Gerv took him goal extremely well it must be said. Sometimes players need a season to settle in and i think Gervinho will be much improved this term.
Podolski was the only survivor at half time and played up until 25 minutes or so to go, when RVP entered the frame. He didn't contribute much to the game but whenever he got the ball, boo's rung around the stadium, notably, sometimes from the Cologne fans. I'm fed up of talking about him so all we can do is wait and see where he ends up!

Final Pre-Season Friendly
The match itself has been brought into the spotlight by the fact that RVP may play, and even retain the captains armband, this surely is not the way forward. The media have been led to believe this after quotes from the Dutch manager Van Gaal,

If the lad does get a run out, I'm 60:40 sure that it will be his last in the red, of Arsenal that is, as the speculation linking him with a move to Manchester united gathers pace as the Daily Star reports that United are ready to up their bid to £20m, matching Arsenal's reported asking price.
Of course this is nothing but media speculation, but its worrying speculation nonetheless.
The thought of RVP banging in a goal at the Emirates FOR United is worrying, but I believe that we'll be OK in the attacking department this season even if RVP leaves to go up north.
The signins of Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla more than make up for the departure of the "one season wonder" that is RVP.
The game also comes on the back of more speculation linking midfield maestro Alex Song with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona. Song's departure, in my opinion, would be more of a loss to the squad than that of Van Persie. Song's new found role of a box to box midfielder, rather than an out and out anchorman has seen him come on leaps and bounds, especially last season. Reports suggest £15m, but i reckon we should hold out for a lot more.

This could mean anything from "I'm willing to stay and sign a 'long term deal' " or "bye bye, but i love you" preferably not the latter.

Welcome to JaysGoonerBlog!
Welcome everyone to JaysGoonerBlog!
First of all, i'm Jay, a 16 year old gooner living in Ireland. My main reason for creating this blog is that i'm a lone gooner amongst my mates and i get very caught up in the monotonous or in other words, stressful times us AFC fans go through. From the continuous downgrading of our players to the constant reminder of our trophy drought and ever now and then i like to have a bit of a rant and let off some steam! The only problem is, my mates are basically sick of it so i thought i'd share my thoughts with people who care, you guys, fellow Gooners!
What can you expect from this blog other than the odd rants? Well, in truth, a whole host of things. Whether its transfer talk, tactics talk, contract, player, boardroom or anything else you guys deem worthy, ill do my very best to supply you with the best possible round up of Arsenal news from around the web! I will by no means claim all information to be my own and will credit each and every source along with supplying links to you guys to any articles i find particularly interesting.
